Computerized tax administration

Online-linked National Bank branches serving the Motor Registration Wing increased from six to eleven. Motor Vehicle Tax computerization improved recovery, reduced opportunities for leakage and created a secure vehicle data bank useful to law-enforcement agencies.

Regulatory improvements

Entertainment Duty remission supported the cinema industry, while personalized irregular and fancy number plates were banned.

Revenue collection

The historical record reports collection of Rs. 30,564.160 million during financial year 2014–15 up to April 2015.

Narcotics and excise enforcement

  • 83 narcotics crime cases were registered and 87 persons arrested.
  • Check posts were strengthened with additional vehicles and staff.
  • Seized narcotics and illicit liquor were documented for destruction.

Motor Registration Wing improvements

  • Two floors were renovated and 20 public service counters introduced.
  • Record-room files were organized for scanning.
  • A registration counter at Awami Markaz became operational.
  • New hardware and software were installed in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas, with additional registration and tax-payment counters in regional offices.
