Department mandate

Serving Sindh since 1908

The department has operated in various forms since 1908 and became an independent entity in 1971 following the disintegration of One Unit. Its twin mandate is tax collection and narcotics suppression.

The department has historically played a central role in provincial resource mobilization. Its goal is to rationalize and simplify tax, levy and cess collection, provide facilities to taxpayers, strengthen the provincial exchequer, and contribute to coordinated action against drug trafficking and abuse.

Modernization of assessment, payment and records is intended to make services more transparent and accessible while protecting public revenue and providing dependable information to taxpayers.
